These high-energy, athletic hunting dogs originated in Hungary and are the smallest of the pointer-retriever breeds. (“Vizsla” means “pointer” in Hungarian.) Strong but light in build, they are lean dogs with well-defined muscles and share similar physical characteristics with the Weimaraner .
