It’s safe to say that this pet-haikuing thing really struck a chord. Perhaps it’s because these poems are the perfect bite-sized container for creativity. Or because there’s a certain unexplainable satisfaction that comes with telling a story in just 17 syllables.

I used to pronounce “Weimaraner” as “WHY-mer-omer.” It’s one of those words that makes me feel like I have marbles in my mouth, and, embarrassingly, it wasn’t until my good friends Jen and Dave got their pooch Salvador (“Sal”) that I learned to say (and spell) it correctly: “VI-mer-ron-er.”
